Oral Sedation Dentistry Aptos
Oral sedation is an effective solution for most people who fear the dentist and have a moderate amount of dental anxiety. It is a low cost method that is safe and is as easy as swallowing a pill. The overall effect is not as profound as IV intravenous sedation, but for most people, there will be enough relaxation with little recollection of the dental procedure. The most common medication for adult oral sedation is Halcion and the most common for children is Versed.
IV Sedation Dentistry Aptos
Intravenous dental sedation is administered directly into the blood stream by our on-site certified anesthesiologist. One of the greatest advantages with IV sedation is that the patient can achieve a deeper state of relaxation than with oral sedation. Also, if at any time the patient is not relaxed enough, the anesthesiologist can easily administer more medication, which will have an instantaneous effect. The drugs used for IV Sedation are more effective than if the same drugs are taken orally and there will be no recollection of the dental procedure.I
